Spitz is a very ancient breed of dog that lived in European countries. Spitz is a descendant of a peat dog that lived in the Stone Age, and a “pfalbaushpitz” that existed in a later time.

The breed originates from the times of Ancient Rome and Ancient Greece. Archaeologists have repeatedly found household items with images of Spitz, which date back to the 10th century BC. In the Middle Ages, Spitz were the village guard dogs.

The name of the dog was borrowed from the German language. “Spitz” translates as “sharp”. It is not clear what was meant – a sharp fox face or a sharp mind, but both of these concepts are applicable to Spitz.

The Spitz breed includes several varieties. The smallest individuals reach a height of 16 cm and weigh from 1,9 kg, while the largest dogs are almost 55 cm at the withers and weigh almost 30 kg.

Kids have an exclusively decorative function and live in small city apartments. And although their larger relatives also feel good in our usual homes, they also need frequent walks and physical activity.

The breed standard and exterior are the same for all Spitz: a pointed or slightly rounded muzzle, fluffy erect ears, a chic mane-like collar, soft undercoat, a shaggy coat and a rich tail that lies on the back in a ball.

Now let’s talk about each Spitz in more detail.

The Keeshond is a beautiful and proportionally built dog. The fluffy ponytail lies neatly on the back and makes the silhouette rounded. Keeshonds have only one color – wolf gray, i.e. the coat is gray with black tips. Gray is not needed. Just wolf.

The temperament of the Wolfspitz Keeshond is incredibly friendly. Aggression for this breed is completely uncharacteristic, and if the dog shows it, this is a clear disqualifying vice. The energy of the Keeshond is in full swing: the four-legged friend is ready for long hikes, walks in the forest, and fun river rafting – if only his beloved owner is nearby.

Keeshonds are strongly attached to the owner and hate to be left alone for a long time. Otherwise, the “wolf cub” will begin to howl mournfully, which will surely attract the attention of the neighbors.

Charming shaggy will definitely not make you bored and will cheer you up even on the gloomiest day. All that a dog needs for happiness is outdoor games, favorite treats and a caring owner nearby.

Large, medium and miniature German Spitz are strong and physically developed dogs. Spitz growth at the withers: large – 40-50 cm; medium – 30-40 cm; miniature – 24-30 cm. By analogy with the Keeshond, they have a double coat: an undercoat and a long guard hair. The colors of the Spitz are very different: the large one has white, black and brown; the middle one has white, black, brown, red, wolf, etc.; in miniature – by analogy with the average.

In no case should you cut the Spitz, as you can ruin the natural beautiful coat and bring the dog to baldness. You can only imperceptibly trim the wool and make a beautiful edging.

The Big Spitz is a great companion. The owners of large Spitz call their wards “angels” because of the good nature and affectionate disposition of the dog.
The average Spitz loves to be in the company of people, completely devoid of nervousness and anger. The dog will willingly support the owners in any family affairs.
A miniature comrade very quickly adapts to a new environment, strives for leadership and dominance, so it must be trained, like other dogs.

Pomeranian is very similar to a dandelion or a cotton cloud – just as gentle and fluffy. However, the cute appearance should not mislead the owner: the toy must be taught commands and educated so that there are no problems with it in the future.

The Pomeranian has many colors, just like its counterparts – the medium and miniature Spitz. The height of the Pomeranian is smaller than other Spitz – only 16-24 cm.

The character of the Pomeranian is cheerful and playful. Spitz in all his actions will wait for the approval of the owner, so teaching the baby good manners is not difficult.
